Schedule Pickup/Drop Off -Tips And Tricks

Welcome to the Schedule Pickup/Drop Off 'Tips and Tricks' page. Throughout the Fromhomewithlove site, these pages guide you with ways to save money and help ensure your homemade meal arrives as intended. Please also view our FAQ's and 'How To Videos' for more information on preparing, packaging and shipping your homemade meal.

The Fromhomewithlove.com solution allows consumers to ship homemade meals within 1-3 days anywhere within the United States. Our 'Single Use' and 'Reusable Kit' allows you to take advantage of transportation services not previously available for shipping perishable food, i.e., Ground and 2 Day services, thus providing significant savings over expensive overnight transportation. All while being accurately and effortlessly monitored by our state-of the art Time-Temperature Indicator while in transit.

Step #1:

Will you be dropping off your perishable package at an authorized FedEx, UPS store, or scheduling a residential pickup? This is an important consideration when shipping your homemade meal. Although both options are acceptable, the key difference being that carriers charge a fee for Residential Pickup. Why not save a few dollars by using our helpful '$ave on Shipping' module on the previous page. It effortlessly provides you with the nearest drop off locations in your area to avoid residential pickup charges.

Step #2:

Will you be shipping via Ground or Express (Air) Transportation? Since Ground transportation is less expensive, we recommend checking out both FedEx and UPS's Ground maps to determine estimated coverage based on the zip code of the sender. Please note, unlike Fromhomewithlove.com, both FedEx and UPS maps don't count the 'Pick Up' or 'Drop Off' day as a delivery day. Thus you need to add the day back when viewing their maps to determine accurate coverage. Meaning, 1 day shown on their map is really 2 days, and 2 days is really 3 days. If the estimate is greater than 3 days, do check the 2nd Day Express services. You'll discover that these options as well are much less than overnight transportation.

Step #3:

Wish to see how much it will cost to ship your homemade meal to your desired destination? Simply, select ‘Schedule Pickup/Drop off’ tab, determine whether you wish to ‘Schedule Pickup’ or ‘Drop Off’, enter your source and destination address, select which service you wish to use (FedFex or UPS), and our convenient web site will not only provide the best prices, but lets you know the fastest way to ship.

SHIPPING RECOMMENDATIONS... Helpful Hints
  • The longer you keep your homemade meal on ice the more you increase your chances for success. Remember, the clock starts ticking when you take your frozen homemade meal out of the freezer, and ends when your homemade meal is delivered to your loved one.
  • Do not send your homemade meal at the end of the week. Send them at the beginning of the week so they don't sit in the back of a truck or mailing facility over the weekend. As a general rule, we recommend targeting delivery no later than Thursday of each week, unless you're shipping packages with a guaranteed delivery date. Additionally, be mindful of holidays by checking out our Carrier Holiday Schedule link.
  • Are there things you can do to reduce your shipping costs and have your package processed faster? Absolutely. Undoubtedly by dropping off your package at an authorized FedEx, or UPS store may speed-up the processing time and you'll save money by doing so. Check with your local authorized FedEx, or UPS store for details regarding the latest time you can drop off your package.
  • Save a few dollars with FedEx and UPS shipping by using our helpful 'Save on Shipping' module on the previous page. This provides you with the nearest drop off locations in your area.
  • Shipments requiring three or less travel days can be shipped by Ground transportation. Shipments requiring more than three days for delivery should be shipped using 2nd day Air.
  • If your scheduling a residential pickup, keep the container with you until the driver comes to the door. If you're going out keep in a shaded location outside your home protected from the elements.
  • Consider sending your package from work. This way you can keep your food container, refrigerants or possibly the entire Insulated Container Kit on ice depending how large your company's freezer is. Did you ever notice at work how the refrigerator is always full of lunches and the freezer is always empty? Why not take advantage of this! If authorized, you may also use a third party FedEx or UPS account number (see below).

 SHIPPING COSTS:

  • The shipping fees for shipments of your homemade meal may be made by credit, debit card, PayPal, or by opting to use a third party shipping account number. In the event you choose to utilize a third-party shipping account number, you will be subject to a small transaction fee. Please note Fromhomewithlove.com conveniently provides you with the best pricing and transit times of our preferred carriers enabling you to select the best option for your budget.
